Absolute Barbecue's Mexican Food Festival - CFG Showcase

Disclaimer: This Showcase is a sponsored event, but the views aren't! :)

This was part of the "showcase" event held by Absolute Barbecue, T. Nagar in association with CFG (Chennai Food Guide). AB is holding a Mexican food festival that is on till the 4th of March. So if you're an AB fan like many of us you should check out them out for the additional dishes they have put out!

After meeting the others from CFG who had come for the event, I got down to the business! And the courteous as always staff obliged and filled up my plate in a matter of seconds. This was how it looked in a few minutes. Jealous? :D

 The Food:

Mexican Additions

As you can see from the menu, they have added a few Mexican items in the menu like the BBQ Chipotle Chicken leg and the Country Club Mexican Chicken in non veg starters. In the dessert section, they've added Apple empinadas and Churros to their usual dessert fare.

I personally loved the Country club mexican chicken most, which was very tasty, juicy and succulent. However forgot to ask them for more because they kept bringing me many other dishes and I kept eating. The BBQ Chipotle chicken leg was well made too but I would have liked more intense Mexican flavors to hit me when I bit into it. It was more Indian flavored.

The other interesting, new items on the menu were the Cheese Cigarrelo which is the roll you see in the first picture. It was nice with cheese tasting filling. Eat it hot. Would have loved to have a non vegetarian version as well. The American cheesy potato and crispy corn was yummy as always! Asked for extra helpings the first time!

Mexican condiments on display

Wish grill in full swing.

Posing with one of the customer's wish grill   request

The salads are kept right in the middle of the Main course section. Very few people successfully reach this section after trying out the starters here. :D

Somedayy, I will taste these veggies!!

The Habenero, red salsa and green salsa are the new additions to the Mexican food festival's wish grill. So do ask them to add them to your request.
Be warned, the habenero is hot.

The wish grill meats on display.

The Non-veg quesadillas. These were good and bit creamy inside. Not sure if authentic mexican but they were tasty. Ask them to make it extra spicy if you like it hot since it is served with mild heat.

Chicken Quesidillas and
Chimichurri Lamb Chops. The lamb chops were tasty and tender. The taste/spice seemed more Indian than Mexican though.

Although there were the above Mexican dishes, would have loved to see more Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos and the rest. Was looking forward to them. Hope it happens next time.

Dessert!

Don't need to say much about AB's dessert section as I've already spoken about it in an earlier post and most know already. Most of the items are freshly made and so taste very good.

The warm jamuns, churros and ice creams.

Pan ice cream being made! Must try item here.

The Mexican dessert, Churros being made on the spot. They were light, crisp and not too sweet. So, great!

                  Success!! :D

The "Mexican" Ambience

A special mention to the effort they've put in to make the atmosphere "Mexican." The waiters are all decked in Ponchos and hats. It is quite an entertaining and interesting sight. I also noticed Mexican themed accessories around the place. The place was bustling as usual, a bit loud but excellent to hang out with your buddies or family and have a great time.

So there it is amigos! The Mexican food festival at Ab! Have a go at it, great fun and food! Until next time, Adios!
