About the blog
With this blog, I'd like to make occasional posts if a restaurant impresses me with its consistently great food/that amazing must-have dish, ambiance, great service or any combination of these. Food will not be limited to traditional eateries/hotels but may also come from the richly developing home baking scene (yet to explore) and small time local eateries that are often overlooked but have good stuff to offer and at great value to boot. In simpler terms, no form of edible is safe from the clutches of this blog if it tingles the palate (in a good way).
One more thing, since I'd like to have the liberty to post about eateries outside Chennai, I'll be making a separate section called "Madras Cheats!" that details these experiences in a while. ;)
Kinds of posts on Madras Eats:
Unless otherwise mentioned in a byline or the post itself, all posts are paid for from the blog owner's diminishing pocket.
An on-the-house post is one where the writer was invited by the restaurant or a PR agency to write about the culinary experience the restaurant has to offer. It could be either a single dish or a full course meal with signature dishes or a new menu being showcased.
A featured post is one where the blog gives coverage to something we deem relevant to the blog's audience either in a partially discounted / paid-for post / in exchange for a sample product. For example, sometimes during a meal the chef may send across some signature dishes on-the-house. These will be mentioned in the review. In other cases, a product sample may be sent over for a review in a barter system. Rest assured, we give higher preference to brands that would interest this blog's typical reader and proves useful to them.
The focus of posts will be centered around great food but with the exciting changing landscape in food tech including one cannot ignore startups and services in this space. There will be focus on them as well. After all, gone are the days when we had to bother our friends n' relatives in other states to get us our favorite food or even need to travel across the city to try our favorite dish from a particular joint. The internet and technology have completely changed how we find and access great food for the better.
About me
An irregular "foodie" who gets all enthusiastic when he gets to have some awesome food whether it's the Nair kadai (shop) bun down the street or a sophisticated full course meal with all the bells and whistles especially when I'm not footing the bill. :P Love good tasting food that leaves you feeling happy.
Professionally I have experience (not degrees though) in content conceptualization and development (copywriting) and marketing as well. I try to combine these interests to come up with content that is what the reader seeks in a way that is engrossing and informing. If you want me to conceptualize written content for your website or need copywriting services do contact me through the form.
Please do use the form to send across any feedback or views as well. Thanks for reading. :)

All visits have been paid for by myself unless it is mentioned otherwise. Featured or on-the-house posts will be clearly mentioned in the post. More information is given below.
Thoughts regarding on-the-house visits
Just because a meal is on-the-house does not mean they would get undue praise of any kind. That said, we will be focusing more on the positives of the experience rather than going on about negatives (which will be mentioned as well). Improvements/feedback may be posted on the blogpost/told privately to the owners/chef as the case may be. The point of these exercises is to help the often new restaurant get honest feedback and announce themselves to the local food scene. As a blog, we would ultimately like to see restaurants improving from our constructive feedback. As a consumer spending valuable money if you see plenty of negatives, you could wait a while before trying the place to give them time to improve.
