Place of Origin is an interesting website that sells popular food products from home bakers, favorite items from famous bakeries across India and much more. Their focus is on products that are regionally famous. I had found some yummy items like Pune's famous Shrewsbury biscuits from there and even blogged about them a while back.
A bit confused by their large selection of food products they have, I was looking to try other items too. The pickles interested me since they were non-veg and I've not tried out many good non-veg pickles before. So I was lucky to receive unpaid review samples of Baria's brand of non-veg pickles. They sent me both Chicken and Mutton Spicy pickles! Baria's Chicken spicy pickle costs 195 rs (250 grams) and mutton spicy pickle is 225 bucks (250 grams). It is sold as a two pack for around 450 bucks on Place of origin.
The pickles were vacuum sealed and well-packed. Enough instructions have been given on the label and they recommend refrigeration after opening. This is made in Telengana so I expect some good chillis to be used.
Opened up the packet eagerly while I was having a bland vegetarian lunch. This is the main reason I wanted a good mutton or chicken pickle so that it would spice up the vegetarian lunch I usually have. Served it up and found a nice piece of mutton in there. This is boneless mutton pickle by the way.
Veg lunch + Baria's mutton spicy pickle = Super yum
The pickle has a rich red color owing to the chillies used, is smooth in texture and with lot of chicken and mutton pieces. Feel the chillies they used make a great difference in the taste since they seem to be quite freshly ground. The Chicken spicy pickle especially has lots of pieces. One taste of the pickle and I loved it. My usual gripe with these meat pickles was the overpowering taste of vinegar but Baria's chicken spicy pickle has only a very faint vinegar taste or nil. Most of the taste comes from the mouth watering chillies that have been ground with spices like garlic. That combined with a bite of meat will pep up any meal. Check out these pickles and tons of other delicious items on Place of origin.

ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious recipe which captivates the taste buds of kids and elders in a family too! I am thankful to you for such a fantastic mild spice chicken pickle. I am sure to try it as it would come for my rescue whenever we run short of any side dish at home. Even guests would love the idea of being served a non-veg pickle! Great job!
